I guess it has been in HTML. So message rules don't work for that? Frustratingly, I told a friend about it, and now HER e-mails end up in Deleted Items! Is there anything else I can do about the stock tip spams?

Not without knowing how you created the rule. Note that in my experience, Stock Tip spam of late has been sent in HTML for the most part. If that is the case for you, a message body rule will not work, if that is what you created.

"Joy" <joymp2@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:OBQKNlidGHA.380@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI've gotten two more "stock" messages since I THOUGHT I had it fixed. Any further suggestions?
"Bruce Hagen" <Nospam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:eZorcJSdGHA.3712@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxIt's in the second (Actions) box. It means that other rules won't override this one. All rules should have this checked unless the box is grayed out.

"Joy" <joymp2@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:up7YgdQdGHA.1208@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxThank you. I'll start with moving the rule higher as suggested in one of those URLs. It happened to be #8, I didn't realize they were processed in any order.

"Joy" <joymp2@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:O6g6pIQdGHA.5048@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI just made a Message Rule for any message that contains a particular word (in this case "stock" - I get all this gibberish from various addresses about stocks), and yet I'm still getting the messages. What am I doing wrong?
If you set up a mail rule like that one, using a word or phrase, in the subject line or message body, it will catch other words that also contain 'stock', like Stockholm or Tavistock etc
