Re: Error Message Outlook Express

Hi Michael

I think we are getting somewhere with your advice. I have done what you
have suggested>created new identity>setup mail accounts>not imported the
data. This is working except now that messages do not sent automatically -
even though I have set them to send automatically. You don't have to press
send but you need to highlight them before they will send.

If I can get the messages to sent automatically, then can I (if the imported
data is corrupt) just keep the 2 identities so I don't lose my old files, and
use the new identity for future emails and the old identity if I need to go
back and check on something. A desperate measure I know.

I really do appreciate you helping me. I have spent many, many hours on this.

You might want to try creating the new identity, manually set up the
mail account, then try sending a message before you import any data from
the old identity. If that works, then the import was importing some bad
data as well.

Thanks Michael

Have tried what you suggested. Unfortunately I still have the same
problem.

Your identity may be corrupted.

1) You'll need to create a new identity:

2) Import the old data:

Thank you Bruce but this did not fix my problem.

Who is your ISP? Let's say, for example, it is Bellsouth.com.

In IE: Go to Tools | Internet Options | Privacy | Sites or Edit
Type
in:

bellsouth.com

Click: Allow (cookies).

See if this helps.

Can anyone please help me.

Outbox.dbx is probably damaged.

Tools > Options > Maintenance > Store folder will reveal the
location of
your current Identity's store
(http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). Write it
down.

In WindowsXP, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as
hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show
Hidden
Files
and Folders under Start > Control Panel > Folder Options >
View.

Close OE.

In Windows Explorer, navigate to your store, find and delete
Outbox.dbx.

General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them
to
local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently
perform a
manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your
machine
if
Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only).

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also
cause
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.
