It cannot be changed in newer versions of Outlook Express. You either have to live with it or not use the Outlook Bar under your options in View/Layout.

I just did a clean XP install and the font in the Outlook Express Outlook
Bar on the left is bold and large. It's not like I had in Win98se and not
like my Win2K Laptop. I thought I read something at some time how to fix
this. Can someone point me in the correct direction?
