Random font change when replying to or forwarding mails in Outlook Express

Hello,
I am experiencing a rather strange issue with mail in Outlook Express: I
often receive mails which I reply to or forward. Sometimes the recipient
will get those mails with certain characters or paragraphs changed to a very
large font. This is totally random and can be just a few words in a line, or
an entire line, or just a few characters. In order to exclude any software
problems on my computer, I reinstalled XP with SP2, but even with a fresh
install, the problem remains. The only way to get rid of those characters is
to go to Tools - Options - Accessibility in Internet Explorer, and select
the field to ignore font sizes on webpages, which of course makes web
browsing a not so nice experience. Does anybody have an idea what could
cause this ? I have done everything from changing fonts to scanning the
registry for any clue. When I look at the source of the emails with the
large fonts, I can see that it is font type Arial with a font size of 100. I
have a feeling that it has something to do with web settings, but I don´t
know where else to look.
Thanks for any help in advance.
