Try using OETool (a free utility) to work around the problem. Just click
on the Full Screen button to see the message as you want it to be.

If I double click on a message it properly opened in a new window but a
large part of that window is used up with a expanded header:

date
newsgroup
org
attachment

Can't see where to get rid of this and it makes going to full screen view
useless.
