Avoid Such Corruption in Future:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a
manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.

- WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is
automatically compacting your message store.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

I must admit I did have miles too many emails in my folders, but someone
accidentally compacted them, and now I only have two emails. I need to
get the other emails back as there is information on them that has to be
transferred.

Can anyone help please

Robear, I did check most of these sites - my mail was not corrupted, the
compact folder message came up on the screen and my techy didnt look, and
pressed ok - does this mean I have lost my mail for good - or can it be
resurrected. I need to be given specific instructions how to do this
though. Looking at several websites offering other advice only confuses me
:-((
Judy <thanks for your help tho>
