That is usually due to e-mail scanning, or an Anti-Spam program. Disable both.

I have checked my web server mail box ,mail that had already been forewarded
to me was still in the mail box . I have deleted them and i will monitor any
new mail .
I Have carried out all of the sugestions from Bruce Hagen but the problem still exists
The notice I recieve is
a time out occurred while communicating with server ,account "ian's mail "server P O pacfic .net.au protocol :pop3 ,port 110 secure (ssl)No error number 0x00CCL19

All messages have to download for the messages to be marked as downloaded.
