Outbox preview pane not updated after editing

When making newsgroup posts or sending emails, I have Outlook Express
configured so that the item initially goes to the Outbox for review, before
I finally send it to the intended recipient. After reading the Outbox item
in the preview pane, I often decide to edit it. Accordingly, I double-click
on the item in the Outbox, edit it, and then click Send. This puts it in the
Outbox again.
In the past, the preview pane has changed to reflect the editing that I have
done, but that is no longer the case. I still see the original version.
If I double-click on the item again to open it, then I see that the changes
I have made are there, so the editing has "worked". It seems that the
problem is that Outlook Express is caching the item in the Outbox and the
preview is being taken from that cache and not being refreshed.
If I click on the Outbox pane away from the item, so it is deselected, and
then click on it again, the preview pane is refreshed and I see the new
edits. However, this step wasn't necessary until the last week or so.
I am using Windows XP Home with all the latest updates.
Has anyone else seen this and does anyone have any ideas about how to fix
it?
