I don't know what else to do except to start from scratch. You can Export the news server account settings, Tools | Accounts | News | Export, but you would have to resubscribe to the individual groups.

Actually, this doesn't work either. When you backup or clone an identity that has an error in it, the error is copied into the new or restored identity.

No way to repair the old identity, AFAIK. But see Cloning Identities (#2) here. This should make transferring as painless as possible.

This certainly seems to be the case. I created a new, test identity and everything works fine. Please tell me there's some hope of repairing the old one, I'd hate to spend the hours and days I've plowed into setting oe up just the way I want again.

You may have a damaged identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it for newsgroups.

I'm using oe on my lap top which is connected to the internet via a linksys wireless router. I use Outlook Express as my news reader, but the from column is always blank regardless of news server. I know this problem isn't coming from my isp, since other computers which are wired into the lan get this information. What setting in oe could be causing this?
