Re: Losing my email settings

Yes. I did all that. It took ages. I have the "deleted Items" box set to
delete on closing, and that works fine. I am using XP Home edition and the
compacting is not an issue as I do it regularly anyway. Filing and sorting of
retained messages is now up to date. I am mystified. Dell now tell me I need
to do a complete reinstal of Windows XP. I am daunted by the work involved in
restoring my working programs, like Word, Excel, Adobe, and the rest, and
whether I can remember everything like licence keys. Even then, since I do
not know the real cause, I do not know if I am protected even after all that.
If Norton anti-virus is the cause, why have other people not reported the
problem of deleted email settings, in great numbers? Surely this would have
been picked up by computer magazine advice pages. The advice on this
community message board about disabling anti-virus protection, even in part,
is contrary to all the advice I read.
