OK, it's 12:31 am Eastern, and I'm going to bed. Here's where I am

1. Per the Google link and your comments, I uninstalled 887797, 887715 and
the SP2 hotfixes. That did little or nothing to the DLL list I sent earlier.

2. I installed 330994 and 823353 using the /n:v option. This moved my
inetcomm.dll back to 6.00.2742.200, I now have an ole32.dll with an xpsp2
number, and my two wab dlls are now <Unknown>. No other changes to the DLL
list, everything pretty much some flavor of 6.00.2800.1123 (except msoe.dll,
which is still 6.00.2800.1478)

3. I tried to install 887797 (which I originally had and uninstalled) with
the above switch. That switch is apparently not valid. When I try to just
run the exe, it says "The version of Outlook Express you have installed does
not match the update you are trying to install."

4. I have not tried 897715 yet, wanting to first see what's up with 887797.
BTW, should I have used 887797 for OE for XP, or OE for 6 SP1??

5. IE no longer works, I am writing this via Firefox. OE still works for
both send and receive.

I did a system restore point before all of this, I pray it will fall back
correctly if I am hosed beyond repair.

Please suggest next steps. I am presuming I must force 887797 and 897715
back on here before I have any chance of being "right".

Are there any other hotfixes I should manually install to attempt to get
this to the point it will allow SP2 to install OE 6.00.2900.xxx ??

Again, thanks for any assistance you can offer.....
