Friend recently started having problems with sending and receiving e-mails..trying to work out where the problem could lie.
He has a 6 month old desktop Packard Bell pc, Windows XP, Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and uses Broadband Wanadoo and he logs on as 1xxx@wanadoo, wife as 2xxx@xxxx and daughter 3@xxxx
Use Message Rules to filter your mail where the three addresses are aliases for the same mailbox.
E.g., Me@xxxxxxx and Him@xxxxxxx and You@xxxxxxx are aliases for one mailbox. In the Identity associated with Me@xxxxxxx, create a Message Rule stating, "Where To contains You@xxxxxxx or Him@xxxxxxx Do not download it from the server and Stop processing more rules" (The last phrase is important!) and place this rule at the very top of the list.
Then create a similar rule for the Identity associated with You@xxxxxxx directing any messages addressed to Me@xxxxxxx and Him@xxxxxxx to not be downloaded from the server. And the same again for the third Identity.
-- Kath Adams MS MVP - Windows (Outlook Express)------------------- Bit more info about friends set up... I'm not sure if he's just using one account...I suppose he is - certainly I know he is only paying one monthly sum to Wanadoo. From the following information perhaps you would know... His accounts aren't just strictly different BEFORE the @ in the e-mail address..... His account details are actually:- Him@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Wife@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Daughter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ...and when he's finished his logs on...he/wife then needs to close down his logging on page by doing Start/Log Off/Switch User/Wife and then wife fires up. Hope that info helps? Cheers.
These are almost certainly aliases for the same mailbox on the server. Email rules will help somewhat with the problem but the only real solution is to pay for separate accounts.
