Re: Address Book Won't Load Error when launching OE

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

What path is shown in this key in the registry?

The name and location of the Address Book is stored in the Registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

If you go to the location indicated at that key, is there a WAB file there with that name? You can create a new, empty WAB file, by using this command at the Start/Run line: WAB /new - and give it a name and location to be stored at. See the info at this link for more about the Windows Address Book:

Also, see this KB article:

Post back if you need more help. And please include the complete, exact text of any error message.

Hi,
I cannot get OE to launch without an address book error, and thus cannot
send mail either. I'm running XP home with SP2. I've read several of the
posts and articles here. I do not have Outlook or Office installed. I've
tried remomving outlook express and then adding, using add/remove programs,
with no fix. I've also tried unloading and reloading SP2, with no fix. I
have looked for the registry keys mentioned in other posts and do not see
them.
Thanks for any help.
