Thank you too Frank for your response. After reading ALL the responses above, I feel better about the whole thing now. I was thinking I might have been OK, but I wanted to hear it from people who know a lot more about this stuff than I do. I do scan inbound email per a setting in McAfee. I don't know enough to agree or disagree with you when you said ..."By the same token, email scanning by an anti-virus is a complete waste of time and resources.", but it's your opinion and I certainly can and do respect that.
Like I've stated in previous posts, I figure people here know more about it than I do. I value the thoughts, advice and info that you (Bruce and Charlie in this thread too) have provided.

McAfee especially has a long track record of destroying the OE message store if email scanning is turned on.
