Help-Log off means can't get mail

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I am using Windows XP Pro, SP2 and OE 6.

Whenever I log off my user account, (whether or not I log onto another user
on this computer), when I log back on to my user, I cannot get any mail. I
get an error message. I have to reboot the computer in order to get mail
again.

What is the fix for this?

Thanks.
Steve
