It WAS the font choice. Thanks! One strange thing, however: The same font
(MS Sans Serif with non-bold setting) causes no such problem for OE 6 on my
other PC which is running the same OS and same IE 6. I think the ultimate
fauklt for the discrepancy is with the recently downlaoded OE 6 that I just
upgraded from OE 5. When I looked for another font to switch to, many of the
decent-looking ones that I tried behaved the same way.
The choice of "icon" font also determines the font used iin Windows
Explorer's directory tree, so I rejected some for the way they look in that
application. I finally settled on Arial, and when I set fit or Bold (to make
it easier to read in Explorer) I found it tstill works OK in OE (i.e., the
Unread itemss sstand out bolder than the Unread. Go figure!
