For the past few weeks we hv been receiving odd error messages in relation
to pop3 from both Outlook express and a mail program used by our purpose
built software. The purpose built software has been in use since Nov last
year ith no changes being made to the pop3 account.
We rcv messages like "Protocol POP3 . Server response .ERR- too many
connections from your IP address (reached max connections) port 10 secure
(ssl)"
and another something like "unable to connect to pop3 failed to authenticate
details on pop3" - which is strange because this error is intermittent and
the pop3 details are never altered. In outlook express we hv ticked "my
server requires authentication".
We hv tried changing ISP 's 3 times to different mail servers to see if it
the server creating the problem. We hv tried using different email addresses
and passwords.
The email address used on the purpose built software cannot be altered because it is linked to a digital certificate used to decrypt return messages.
We have also completely un-installed Norton fromthe main server so at
present there is no conflict with Norton blocking anything.
As mentioned this all only started happening in the last few weeks.
ANY Ideas????
