Re: OE no longer works with Hotmail how to fix?

Make certain your time, date, and /time zone/ settings are correct.

IE Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Sites> type in

   hotmail.com
   (msn.com)
   (passport.net)

and Allow All Cookies for each domain.

Temporarily disable your firewall, any "system" tools (NSW, NIS, anything by Norton or McAfee) and pop-up/ad blockers to see if they're interfering.

How do you connect? Is the machine on a network? Related URLs (MTU values):

IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>HTTP 1.1>toggle on/off; "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" must *not* be checked.

IE Tools>Internet Options>Security>[zone in OE runs; should be Restricted Sites]>Custom Level>User Authentication>Logon>toggle between the setting choices here ['Prompt for Username and Password' and 'Automatic...current Username...' works for me.]

Resetting either or both of the above Tabs to the defaults might help, too.

If you're running a version of MSN Messenger earlier than v7.5, try upgrading to this latest version (WinXP only).

The messages I receive are:

"Unknown Problem"

Configuration:
  Account: xxxx_xxxx

  User name: xxxx_xxxx@xxxxxxxxxxx

Protocol: HTTPMail

Has support for Hotmail changed --these are *not* new accts, Ive been using some of them for years, or has something gone broke with O?. It seems at the same time the 'search' function of the OS no longer works either and Im wondering if something Ive installed has created a problem. I have no trouble accessing all of my hotmail accts using firefox or IE web interfaces and as I said my Earthlink acct is still readily available. I've tried shuting down Zonealarm Pro (latest patches) firewall but to no avail. Any ideas how to rectify?

Config: winXP SP2 all latest patches, 512MB, PIV 2.53, 500GB storage.
