Add Hotmail to your trusted sites in IE (yes IE).

Then see if it works out. Hotmail's server get flaky at times so it may not be your setup and reinstalling OE will not fix it. Fact is, reinstalling software only worked when you had Win3.1 and rarely works now.

Yes, Ive rebooted several times and have turned off firewall, checked windows updates, tried to find a OE reinstall but couldnt. Im at my wits end. Id like to blame it on Hotmail but its been several days now and its hard to imagine they'd let a problem like this fester for so long.

Suddenly a couple of days ago OE stopped working with Hotmail though it still works with my Earthlink acct.


The messages I receive are:

Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'xxxx_xxxx, Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x8007007E

Header download for the 'Inbox' folder did not complete. Account: 'xxxx_xxxx', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x8007007E


"Unknown Problem"

Configuration:
  Account: xxxx_xxxx

  User name: xxxx_xxxx@xxxxxxxxxxx

Protocol: HTTPMail


Has support for Hotmail changed --these are *not* new accts, Ive been using some of them for years, or has something gone broke with O?. It seems at the same time the 'search' function of the OS no longer works either and Im wondering if something Ive installed has created a problem. I have no trouble accessing all of my hotmail accts using firefox or IE web interfaces and as I said my Earthlink acct is still readily available. I've tried shuting down Zonealarm Pro (latest patches) firewall but to no avail.

Any ideas how to rectify?

Config: winXP SP2 all latest patches, 512MB, PIV 2.53, 500GB storage.



Reboot and log back on and see if it works then. Hotmail can act up at any time.
