It probably isn't as bad now as it was before version 6. Versions 5.5, and
earlier, are serious security risks. It has some other flaws which are more
about taste and preference than anything else.

MSOE can't filter worth a diddly-damn. It can't read any part of the
headers than "From:", "To:", "Cc:", or "Subject". It can't even use simple
wildcards in the rules. It has a few other such flaws which, while they
aren't security issues, are annoying; once you have really gotten used to
the way that other clients work.

Of course, some people get used to doing things a certain way, and won't,
or can't be bothered to try something different. But some of us can read
backwards, upside down, and even inside out. I caused one lady some
consternation because I was reading the same page of her newspaper as she
was reading; from across the table! Through page! The text was offset, by
line, just enough so I could read between the lines on my side of the page;
no mirrors, or reflections.

So, if MSOE is satisfactory for your purpose, and you learn how to lock it
down, just keep on using it. But I like the way I can read from one server
while posting back through another server with 40tude.
