I found myself in the same position. I have tried several other mail and NG
programs. I keep coming back to OE. Maybe, it's because I am used to OE.
Let's face it, although the Mozilla programs have made some inroads, IE and
OE still account for the vast bulk of users.

There's a lot of complaining about OE, esp. from Mozilla fans. One area of
complains is the security (or lack of it).
I have used OE for many years. A number of times I have installed some other
mail client, e.g. Thunderbird, and always with the same result - I uninstall
it and go back to OE, since I think OE actually is better - faster and more
intuitive.
So my questions are:
Is OE really that bad?
Is security an issue in OE, compared to e.g. Thunderbird?
.
