Processor Socket Type : mPGA478
It uses what is known as a Socket 478 CPU. That would be about a max of 2.4 GHz maybe up to 2.8 without looking into it, but anything would be better than a Celeron.
You would need to contact HP since they have this motherboard (P4G533) built to their specifications (not sold publically by ASUS as far as I know anyway). They may also have the BIOS written to their specifications meaning you would have to update the BIOS as well.
Just on an odd guesstimate, about $150 for a CPU, check http://www.pricewatch.com for further pricing. HP would want the first born, an arm and a leg for the same CPU. It's not just a simple pull the plug on one and pop in the new one as you would also have to reset some of the pins on the mobo to set the speed correctly. Nothing for an amateur to attempt.

Hi there I'm writing this hoping someone can help me with some Info. I need a CPU for my PC and I really don't know what is compatible to my PC. It had a Celeron inside and now I would like to put in a Pentium 3 or 4. I just don't know exactly what to buy that is compatible with my PC.
This page describes my Motherboard and I would assume any other Info needed.

I also copied this info I was given that describes what I have or should I say need.
So if anyone can help me I would greatly be appreciative.
Thank You; Melanie
