Thanks Michael and Kath, both suggestions are good and relevant
but I don't have a broken system.

All I had to do was reboot and OE was working properly again.

I've noticed this happen about 3 times this year. For no apparent
reason every hyperlink in every mail, if clicked on, causes OE to hang.

If I terminate the MSIMN.exe task and restart OE the behavior
remains. Click-hang. Click-hang. Reboot-fine.

Thanks Kath. That did initially look relevant but it's not exactly the
situation I have. I can start OE with no problems. Things go wrong
when I click a link in an email. This current session I've started and
had to kill the MSIMN.exe task 3 or 4 times because I keep clicking
on links in emails without thinking. I know for a fact that if I reboot
now, as soon as it's back up I'll be able to click on links in emails
again ... until the next time it happens ... some weeks down the road.

When it gets in this state I have to remember to right-click each
link and select "copy link location" and manually open the browser. I
have it set to have IE as my default browser and always open in a new
window.
