Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Make sure you do this: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 regardless of what antivirus program you are using.

I'm not sure just what the ISP did, but I received NAV yesterday -
uninstalled AVG which I had always used. Now I can't even get connected to
the server with IE! Glad I can access this source from work.
I'm also running Windows 2000 - didn't have the install CD to do updates so
I sent for that as well. Don't know if that will resolve the problem or not
and/or if I contracted the new worm. Since the computer isn't shutting
down, I suspect that isn't the problem.

Considering going MAC in the future!!

And just how did they accomplish that?

I won't get into the AVG vs Norton issue but reinstall AVG immediately
until
you get the NAV installation CD. Uninstall AVG prior to installing NAV.

AVG should be configured to automatically seek updates daily at a time
when
the machine's usually running and connected to the internet. Furthermore,
configure AVG to run a full system scan a few minutes after seeking
updates,
also daily.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware.
