Re: New toolbar

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I can't help with the Norton question as I have never used their product, but if there is nothing in Add/Remove Programs, try a search, Start | Search | For files and folders and put the word Norton in the search bar.

About AVG, I have seen a few posts recently where similar problems were mentioned and removing AVG and reinstalling it in the Custom Mode did solve the problem.

Thanks, Bruce & Robear. Based on recommendations in these NewsGroups, I already have AVG, but have some questions. Some months ago (or last year? I forget when it was), my Norton was "acting up", so I didn't renew it; and uninstalled it. BUT when uninstalling any program, it always says some things will have to be "manually" removed, and I never know what they are or where to find them; so all I uninstalled was the "regular" uninstall that came with Norton. So that's my first question - are there any manual components I should remove? If so - how?

Next question - I recently lost some e-mails out of my own (not the basic) folders and was told that AVG e-mail scanning could have caused it, so I tried to turn off that feature of AVG. Now when I first turn the computer on, I get a pop up from the lower right Taskbar area telling me the AVG e-mail scanning isn't fully functional. Plus it also pops up when I'm checking for new e-mail and seems to run when I'm downloading e-mails, or maybe it's just e-mails with attachments. Puzzling. Should I maybe uninstall it and start over using the Custom as Bruce said?

AVG is highly recommended for the home user IMO. You should *uninstall* your current anti-virus application before installing a new one.

OK, will do. I thought I remembered someone saying about waiting (when it

Do you know much about AVG (free-Grisoft) anti-virus?
