Sorry about my previous reply. I just used the reply option at the
bottom of the previous post - did not realise I needed to use reply on
the "show options". Hope this is right now.

I was replying to PABear

Thanks for your suggestions.

I have used Outlook Express happily for many years so am used to doing
all the things you suggested. Unfortunately none of these seems to be
the problem.

It is the identity box for getting into Outlook Express asking for the
password, not the identity password on the account once Outlook Express
is launched and open.

There are no hotmail accounts in my Outlook Express account list.

The mail box for the identity which I use, and which is always the one
highlighted for the password entry request in the identity box, is not
corrupted.

I am in contact with Symantec over this, but they seem to think it is
Microsoft I should be talking to, so not making much progress.

And may we assume when this password box comes up that OE isn't already open/running in background?

OE Tools > Options > Security > Warn me when... (Is this checked/enabled?)

Reports about problems involving NIS and recent updates for it are beginning to pile up in many newsgroups. Run LiveUpdate manually & repeatedly until you get the "No additional updates available" prompt. Afterwards, run a scan with NAV per http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=5878 (Steps 1-4).
