Re: PLEASE HELP! Windows Media Player won't play on internet

Hey Letisha,

Why don't you spend a few minutes at Windows Updates and update your XP, instead of posting useless crap to this newsgroup? You are missing a few updates.

Please help me!

Whenever I try to click on a video to watch on a website, it either won't
play or plays for a few seconds and stops, along with an Internet Explorer
error message in a new window:

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience."

Then I send an error report but it doesn't do anything. Yesterday, it froze
the whole webpage when I tried to watch a video, and then I sent an error
report and got this message when I clicked for more details:

"Remove the software that caused the problem

Thank you for submitting an error report. The error was likely caused by:

IBIS Toolbar created by iDownload.com.

Warning: This program shows advertisements (such as pop-ups), collects data
about you, or changes settings on your PC and does one or more of the
following:

Installs without notifying you of the features above
Does not provide information (or provides incomplete or inaccurate
information) about its publisher
Does not provide you with a way to stop it from running
To learn more about this type of software, please visit the Microsoft
Security website.

To Remove IBIS Toolbar:

Click Start and then click Control Panel.
Click Add or Remove Programs.
In Category View, click Remove a program. (If you use Classic View, go to
step 4.)
In the list of installed programs, select IBIS Toolbar and then click Remove
or Change/Remove.
Note: If the program does not appear in Add or Remove Programs, you might
need to remove it using one of the automated tools listed below.

To attempt to remove this program and any similar programs that might be
installed on your computer, you may download and run one of these free tools:

Microsoft Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) Third-Party Security Partner Tools Spybot Search & Destroy (S&D) Lavasoft Ad-aware Note: Microsoft is not responsible for the quality, performance, or reliability of third-party tools."

I tried searching for IBIS Toolbar after finding that it wasn't in my list
of programs to add or remove from my control panel. I then used my
AntiSpyware but found no threats. I also used AntiSpyware to look for
toolbars that may cause problems and deleted one that was a potential threat,
and I also deleted Eyetide Toolbar, which has pop-up blocker (I saw on
i-Download.com that Pop-up blocker is one of their programs, but now I
realize I must have a different pop-up blocker because I never paid for one
from there) but it still shows up when I go back to check with AntiSpyware.
I also deleted the Eyetide folder where it is in my Program Files, and turned
off pop-up blocker.....and now turned it back on after seeing that none of
this worked!

If someone knows how to help me PLEASE I would really appreciate your
kindness. I just want to be able to watch videos on websites again with
Windows Media Player (by the way the video files on my computer play fine
with WMP)!
