Deleting POP3uidl.dbx does not delete the messages in any folder. It "fools" OE into thinking that it never downloaded the messages at all, and would then download them again.

AFAIK, it won't download the messages again on same machine unless
you went into the Message Store and physically deleted the
Pop3uidl.dbx file with OE closed.

No - just checked. It won't download again on the same machine. You
would have to download first on another machine, leaving a copy on
the server if you didn't want the interception to be noticed.
