Re: OE 6, Spell checker not Working

OE 6 does not come with it's own spell check. You need Word or an MS Office program. Or you can download a free spell check at one of these sites.

I have a clean install of W-XP & I have no spell checker in OE, it dings me w/dialog box and the error message is.... an error occured while the spelling was being checked, however the utility fails to open up.

I may have a incompatibility problem, not sure ??? I installed Office 97, Word and the spell checker, however like I mentioned the spell checker doesn't work in OE.

I have been using OE 6.0 for sometime.... previously on 98-SE, IE6-SP1 w/all updates.
I'm updated w/Win-XP-SP2 and all priority updates from WU.

I had to edit a two registry keys for Office 97 to install completely....
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options

htmlmarq.ocx and htmlmm.ocx, separate keys. rename them to htmlmarq.tmp and htmlmm.tmp.

If someone knows a fix for the spelling check utility, I really appreciate your helping me.
