unable to open attachments

hi i'm having windows98 with IE6

i'm using outlook express since long times, it works well

i've just transferred to cable internet from dialup & install a Zone Alarm
Pro since, i'm unable to open any kinds of attachments from inbound mail

The message shows that

OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail:
document.doc/ or any other file

i've tried disabling e-mail protection from Zone Alarm Pro, but it still
shows the same thing & i'm unable to open the any types of attachments..
The same thing happen when I access my hotmail account from outlook express.

one more thing,
in the incoming message Avast shows that, Inbout message clean, but i'm
unable to open attachments...Why i don't understand?

i'm keeping my system up-to-date.
I'm having other security related software installed are Avast Antivirus
Home Edition, Spybot S&D, Zone alarm Pro & AdAware...

Please help
