Re: New PC, but can't find .MDX files on old disk

You can't just change the location to the old location and expect OE to pick up the messages. In fact, it might wipe out the old files, so I hope you have a backup.

Hi there,

You are correct, those files are hidden by default in WinXP. In Windows
Explorer click on Tools | Folder Options | View and check "show hidden
files."

I thought the process of getting access to my emails on my old disk would be
simple but from the looks of it it's just another MS nightmare!

Thanks folks for the help. I followed your instructions and found my old
emails and settings at E:\Documents and Settings\Kerry\Application
Data\Identities\{A5623F50-B640-4F38-8970-3FDEF04FBE69}

I then followed the instructions to change the store location by opening OE6
and going to
| Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder |
Then I changed the location of the store to the address above on the E/
drive. I then closed OE and reopened it. And guess what happened - nothing!

Where did I go wrong? I still can't get access to my old emails.

Thanks

Kerry
