Backing up my messages onto a cd and reopening them

I know how to backup my folders, messages, and address book in Outlook
Express and then restore them to my hard drive if I redo my pc. What I'm
wanting to know is this:
Is there a way that I can backup my folders with my messages to a cd or dvd
and then when I want to access them, just open up the particular folder in
Outlook Express and not reimport the messages? What I'm wanting to do is
keep my messages and folders on a cd and then delete all the messages from
the folders on my hard drive to clear up space. Then if I need to find a
message in the future, I'd like to be able to insert the cd and access the
folders, search on the messages, and open up a particular email; all without
reimporting them to my hard drive.
Thanks for your help!
