Messages not downloaded

Using OE as newsreader, I am always left with some groups that show a number
of messages as not downloaded and not read each time I sync with my server.
The group name is highlighted with number of messages unread but no new
messages appear in message window when the group is selected. I select
catchup and they dissappear but show up again on the next sync. How can I
fix this?
