1a. Make sure your account is set up according to instructions at http://home.bellsouth.net/NewsGroup/s/s.dll?spage=cg/news/newsgroup003.htm&only=y&ck
1b. Try creating a new News account per those instructions.
2. Your current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the default Main Identity. Try the account in a new Named Identity (File>Identities>Add new identity). Assuming all is well, import Local folders from the old Identity before deleting it (File>Identities>Manage Identities).
To avoid such corruption in future:
Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose.
Empty Deleted Items folder daily.
Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/files/maintain.htm.
Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

When I try to post a picture in a binary newsgroup I will get a message such as follows:
Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject 'Turtle', Account: 'newsgroups.Bellsouth.net', Server: 'newsgroups.Bellsouth.net', Protocol: NNTP, Server Response: '441 Posting Failed (Rejected by POST filter)', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 441, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9
The message stays in my outbox until I delete. My settings are correct.
I read an old posting about the problem of not being able to post a picture to a binary group and the answer was to delete the Outbox.dbx file using Windows Explorer. I cannot find the file using Windows Explorer, I can only find it by using Window's Search function. I find the file and delete, but the problem still continues.
I also tried deleting and reinstalling IE and OE (following instructions at MS exactly)... disaster, my computer wouldn't reboot and I had to pay someone to get it started again and my problem still exist.
The version of OE I have is stated as: 6.00.2900 (xpsp-sp2_rtm.040803-21587).
