Spell Check in Outlook Express

I am using the OE 6 that came preinstalled on my Dell machine in 2003, and
also on my Dell machine in 2005.

I am running XP SP-2 on both.

On BOTH machines, I have never been able to run Spell Check. I get

"An error occurred while the spelling was being checked."

(Boy, I'd love to check the grammar on that error message, but I digress).

Any thought on how to fix?
