First suspect would be some type of parasite, most likely picked up when browsing the web. See these links for some help:

I guess that humor is not funny at times - sorry!!
to renerate:
one day I started my Microsoft outlook express 6.0 from the office 2000 "news button". (as I have done for years or so)
that day the Microsoft outlook express 6.0 appeared to be hung up in starting. (in newsgroups only - not used for mail)
I just ignored it for a while hoping for self recovery.. after 5 min or so it was still hung, so I needed to restart the computer because there was no way to break the program. (windoz task manager)
when the computer restarted, I went to the News reader (which is not configured for mail) to read the news, and there were 50 or more NEW 'subscriptions" to various newsgroups, none of which were family orientated.....
I shut down the computer removed from the internet restarted in safe mode ran ad-aware spybot Norton windoz spy and scan programs.
there were some hits and they were removed. I scan every other day or so.. and Norton and windoz run every early am .. as in practicing safe computing .....
then I restarted, went and removed the unnecessary news item subscriptions and are moving on.
the general question is ---- is this a common thing? or is it must me?? or is it going around??
I posted for advice and general information for the group, in case this was a fad starting......
sorry if I insulted or offended someone, advice was asked and advice will be taken, again sorry if I was not politically correct in my original post. (humor is nice in life, I try to find some every day)

AND, thanks for the "removal advice" - I have just ran the cwschredder, ad-aware, and spybot again - with NO hits..... go figgure ????
thanks for the help and standing by for whatever is available....
returning to lurk mode (maybe forever)
