Barbara,

I don't like system works, in my experience it seems almost as if it creates
problems to "Fix" them but maybe I was just unlucky with it (repeatedly) :)

I also believe there have been problems with Zone Alarm since they took it
upon themselves to ad stuff to their previously good firewall. In any case I
suspect some of these things running in the background will conflict with
each other, but of course we don't know for sure.

Look for a file called HOSTS --- just HOSTS, no extension and see how it
looks using notepad. It can be used to block websites and unless the user
has chosen to use it it should do no harm to rename it and see what happens.

I don't know if it's the same as it used to be but if you decide to
uninstall zone alarm first disable it's run at startup option and then
reboot, make sure it's not running then uninstall. If you don't do this with
older versions the firewall keeps running but the control panel won't work
so you may have to reinstall and then do the above.
