MVP - CHEAP SHOT

Mr. Stepelton,
I'm not an MVP either, but I've been monitoring this NG and looking at every
message for the past few weeks hoping to learn some things. I'm a little
curious about the rationale for your signature comment ". . . but gives
answers NOT links". Unless I'm missing some, the MVP's who respond to these
pleas for help, number about 6-8. They collectively respond to somewhere
between 150-200 postings each day (more on weekends). Some of them have
real day jobs that demand their time, and then they volunteer their
expertise to this NG. And again, I may have missed some of your responses
along the way, but this is the first time I'm seen your name in a (response)
posting.
In any event, when the MVP's help as many folks as they do - daily - and
many of the posted problems are repeats from day-to-day, it seems that the
best way to: 1) help folks learn how to help themselves; 2) provide needed
time to the ones who have truly difficult problems, while dealing with the
newbies who don't want to read the Help screens, is to provide a link to a
page where the problem's solution lies. The operative word for providing
links is 'efficacy' - being both effective and efficient.
Note: my objective here is not to criticize you, but to gain some
understanding about why you made what sounds like a sarcastic remark about
some folks who are providing valuable resources to the uninformed.
Comment?
