Unless you mean MS Messenger:

See:

Otherwise, I have no more answers.

I think maybe we are talking about two different messengers...
If I open Outlook Express the one that opens on the task bar and tries to sign me in pops up, I ticked off the option "Automatically Log in to Windows Messenger" but it still comes up... When I try to close it via the tray options it says other programs are currently using it, such as Outlook Express... Once I close Outlook Express I can close Messenger... It's the one with the little Pawn looking icon not the LAN messenger...

The Alt T A thing does nothing...

guess I can just live with it...

Well, that seem strange. But since you're using XP, you can do this:

If you want to disable Windows Messenger completely, use the Manage Add-on feature.
Open IE - Hold Alt - Tap T and A. Disable Windows Messenger. It can be enabled in the future should you want to.

It is not in there, the only program that is in the Run folder is my Active Sync

Stop Windows Messenger from Auto-Starting:

Go to Start>Run>Regedit>OK. Find and delete the
following Registry Key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
   \Software
       \Microsoft
           \Windows
               \CurrentVersion
                   \Run
                       \MSMSGS  -  {Delete}

Hi there,

How can I disassociate Windows Messenger from OE6... I have clicked off the option of logging on to Windows Messenger but it always opens with OE6... Once OE6 is open I can't shutdown messenger until I close OE6
