I have tried creating a new identity, though still with the same problem.
Any other ideas?
Also, would it be beneficial to try reinstallin OE6? If so, how do I just
install it from my XP CD?

OE is a bit goofy at times in the way it can change fonts on you unexpectedly. What you might try and do after the edits you are making is to switch back and forth between HTML and Plain text format (its not clear which you are using). That can sometimes reset the window to look as it will in the final message.
