Re: Opening my email in outlook express

If you copied the files to a CD, the Read-Only attribute has been set on the CD which will preclude importing the files. Copy the files to a folder on your hard drive, select them all, and clear the Read-Only attribute (under the Properties), then open Outlook Express and import them. Do not copy/paste the DBX files into your message store folder as they will not be read nor recognized, they must be imported using Outlook Express's menu.

Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. No one gets paid to help here, and the response rate from those that are helped is less than 4-5%. If that were how medical advancements were made we would all have died years ago. Thanks.

Tim,
I copied my Outlook Express dbx folder from my identities folder, burned it
to CD, took to one of my other computers, imported one of my mail folders and
can view the emails just fine on that PC. So, this defintely has something
to do with the MS security updates that I just installed on my 2KPro PC. I
just want to know how to view my emails like I used to! Have I mentioned how
frustrating this is? =(

Hi Brent,

May have missed this, but in Tools, Options, Read tab what is the choice for
reading in Plain Text? Plain Text will put HTML content in an attachment.
Also, clearing Temporary Internet Files may help, particularly if the
attachments begin with "ATT."

1. In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

2. On the General tab, click Delete Files, click OK, and then click
OK again.

Hi Tim,
The "Automatically download message when viewing in the Preview Pane" option
is checked as it should be. So is the "Show Preview Pane" in the Layout
options. All the settings that I know of are properly set. This all began
when I updated all of the windows and office security updates. As I keep
messing with, what is happening is it is only allowing emails to be viewed
as
attachments. It doesn't matter if they were already in my folders or if new
emails come through. I have to open all of them as attchments to read.
Talk
about frustrating!
