Another question: I have not spent much time with the SP2 changed O.E., but
I have not been able to do a combine and decode, with the new security in
O.E. - am I blind or is this also impossible using the "Read in plain text"
feature introduced with SP2?

I don't know, never having had the occasion to test it, but it would not surprise me. I've turned the option off.
