Jim,
My ISP and the line server immediately above him, and probably others, are
now counting the number of E-mails originating daily from one Internet
location [E-mail address] and when it reaches excess above an average
amount; a check with the sender is made. These are efforts to both reduce
spam plus find computers which have been taken over by viruses which
perpetuate the virus by re-sending it to every address in the users address
book. My ISP is fairly small so I received a phone call when I sent out a
bunch of jokes, etc, I had accumulated over a long period of time to about
everyone I had an e-mail address for in my address book. Microsoft now
provides an add ware, spy ware prevention program and fairly soon, I
believe, will be in the anti-virus program business. The problem is that all
the negative publicity hurts sales of the main money makers [Window
Operating Systems, whether personal or business]. Firefox was a miracle
product until the virus writers discovered it also.
