Most ISP's have a means to access your mail through their web site.
There you can review, answer or delete mail. Great for when you are
traveling and using another person's computer. But also a good way to
review and clean mail messages that might be too large for a dial up
service.
If you don't down load all of your messages from the ISP server (for what
ever reason) then a indicator that all mail has been delivered is not set,
and the server keeps all the mail for the next time you download. Hence you
get multiple copies. Attaching a large pictures by some one who does not
know how to reduce the file size can hang a dial-up connection and cause the
server to lose connection before all the mail is down loaded.
