Re: Cannot reply - 0X800CCC79 error

How many recipients are you sending to at one time? The error message can also occur if you are trying to mail more people than the number your ISP allows.
See this link also.

(You are not trying to share OE across the network are you?)

I tried that but it did not work. The situation is that there are
three computers. These computers need to be able to access the one
account on Outlook Express.

ISP is MediaCom Fast DSL.
Computer A can access the account, reply, and send emails with no
problem. Computer A is set up with no X in My server requires
authentication. Computer A has Windows XP Pro. Computer A and
Computer C are networked to share some files.
Windows Firewall is not turned on for Computer A and C. Computers
appear to be secure from test at www.hackerwatch.org/probe .

I added the account to computer B and computer B can access the
account, send emails with no problem. Computer B is set up with no X
in My server requires authentication. Computer B has Windows 98 SE.

Computer C has the problem. I cannot send or reply to any emails.
Computer C and Computer A are networked. I tried to check the My
server requires authentification but that did not help. The emails go
straight to the Outbox with that 0x800CCC79 error message showing up.
Computer C has Windows XP Pro.

Any more ideas please?

Teh message could not be sent because one off the
recipients was rejected by
the server. The rejected e-mail address was
Protocol. SMTP,
Server Response "550, not local 'host (aol.com for
example), not a gateway,
Port 25, Secure, SSL

We cannot send or reply to emails received via Outlook
Express. I have
checked the settings. At one time we could send emails so
something has
changed. I am wondering about firewall but the Windows
Firewall is off
according to the Security Center on this computer which
has Windows XP Pro.
Yet there must be a firewall because computer is secure
according to
www.hackerwatch.org/probe. This computer is networked to
another computer if
that helps.

Please offer advice on what I might be able to check to
determine and fix
problem.

Thanks,
Susan
