Hi:
Hi Kath
Well I solved the problem......with advice from HTH that I got in one
of the Newsgroups that my ISP (Bell Sympatico) operates for its High
Speed customers. For anyone who might be interested I will paste to
this post, my reply to HTH, and below that, his directions that he
gave me ...........will follow.
In summary......I was really trying to do something that was not
really complicated but I was overlooking one very basic and simple
detail but that omission made the simple task that I had envisioned
impossible to realize.
Thanks again for your time and your help. It is much appreciated.

Here is the cut & Paste from the other NG:
Hi HTH:
Problem solved. Thanks a bunch!!!!
Your question at the beginning was incisive and key to solving the
problem
<<<<<<What did you copy over to the USB device? Was it a copy of the
wab.exe?....or did you export your address book from within Outlook
Express?>>>>>>
When you answered with:
<<I suspect you did the former and not the latter.>>
You were absolutely right...
I simply dragged the Address book icon into the Kingston from both
desktops figuring that would work but it didn't. Because when I tried
to use the Import function on the Laptop it could not find any wab
files on the Kingston even though the two address book icons each with
different names were visible.
I followed your instructions exctly as written and I was able to do
everything that I wanted to.
With the Kingston plugged into the Laptop I can read each Address Book
seperately and that is great. Or I can Import one or both address
books to the Laptop. If I import both the Laptop however puts both
address books into one address book but that is OK....we can live with
that....
The key it seems is to properly export the address book. i.e. do it
from OE and Export it from there using the Export function otherwise
the import source won't be able to identify wab files in the Kingston
or other such device.
I had a feeling that I was having problems because I had probably
overlooked or forgotten to do something very basic. I just couldn't
believe that OE could be as cantankarous as I was finding it to be.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding
