Can't Delete Inbox Messages

Running OE 6 under WinME (all with all critical updates installed) , and AVG
anti-virus. Recent intermittant problem has now become rather consistant,
namely I can't delete inbox messages. Seems after a reboot, I get one shot
at deleting whatever I wish in inbox. After that, delete has no effect.

Suggested fixes would be most welcome.
