OE6 stalls at startup

When I start OE6, it sits there unresponsive for several minutes. I can't
click on anything, or otherwise do anything with it. I do not have it set to
check mail at startup. I've deleted, compacted, etc. It seems to have
started a week or so ago when I added several hotmail accounts to it. I
removed them, but it still does it. The last time it did this it sat for ten
minutes(!) and I was afraid I was not going to get it working again. I think
I've done the obvious, any suggestions?
