Well, I got to thinking I wanted to install the SP2 patch on a clean system
and decided to do a full recovery of my Presario. Now everything is back
into working order and OE is working fine.

Thanks everyone for your help and happy surfing!

Hello Jim,
I guess I haven't made myself clear to everyone who is really trying hard to
help me. I can embed small files from anywhere on my computer into the
background of a New Message. However, anything larger than 125kbs will not
embed. The paths are perfect, the code is perfect, ie. <BGSOUND balance=0
src="C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Midi\alicesrestaraunt.mid"
volume=-570>

Forwareded it creates the "cid" in the path i.e.
<BGSOUND balance=0 src="cid:000e01c51ae8$c0437b70$2f01a8c0@XP"
volume=-570>

I have no idea what could be going on? Any Wav or any Midi I choose will
play as long as it's not bigger than 125kbs...... I have tried at least 10
suggestions today, no one has mentioned going into the registry. Could that
be the fix?

You must include a complete file path to the sound file (wav or mid) in
order for it to be found when sending the message. Failing to include a
complete file path will result in a "file not found" message and asking if
you still wish to send the message. The file path should look something
like the following if you open the Source tab:

<BGSOUND balance=0 src="C:\WINDOWS\Media\mysound.wav">

Only wav and mid file can be embedded using the menu choice. Other sound
files such as mp3 or asf must use the AMC (Active Movie Control) to be
embedded. You can find help with using that object control in the
stationery newsgroup.
