This was it! Precisely, IE \Tools \Internet Options \Security
\Restricted sites \Custom Level
\Drag and drop or copy and paste files:

- it was "Prompt"
- I changed it to "Enable",

and it worked at once.

Odd anyway, because on another PC right here, W2KSP4 US, I also
have "Prompt" but I never got that problem.

Thanks again, this little thing was getting annoying.

Did you post from the machine in question? This is default
secure behaviour in a fully updated version of WinXP SP2 when
you attempt to Drag and Drop a link from OE (Restricted Sites)
to IE (Internet zone). By default OE runs in Restricted Sites
zone.

This setting is controlled in IE Tools>Internet
Options>Privacy>[zone]>Custom>Miscellaneous.

Additional restrictions to Drag and Drop were introduced
in MS05-008 and MS05-014 (Feb-05).

Subject: Drag-and-Dropping a link to an Address Bar fails when from OE
Dragging-and-Dropping a link
- from the body of an OE (Outlook Express) message
- to the Address Bar in an IE (Internet Explorer) window,
stopped working yesterday when.
It still works from the body of an *IE* window.
The failure came after an update (WindowsUpdate + F-Secure
Update) and Drive Defragmenting.
The PC is a new Notebook (bought 14 Dec 2004), WXPH+SP2 FR,
and F-Secure Internet Security 2005 FR
TIA to any help.
